Success!

I know it's been forever, but...I finally have a finished object! Yay! It's the Ribbed Bolero.

I got gauge using the suggested size needles and followed the directions exactly and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I haven't tacked down the neck yet, but it fits pretty well, and that makes me happy. I was especially nervous about the fit since A) this was my first article of clothing for me and B) my calculations had me cast on the same amount of stitches that the designer did and she called that a small. I am definitely not small. So, I was a little nervous throughout the whole knit, but it actually turned out ok. Here's a view of the back:

This took much longer to knit than it should have, but that's only because I can only knit so much at a time. It was extremely easy and I didn't have any problems interpreting the pattern...except for when I sewed the edges together wrong and freaked out about why it looked so wierd. But I figured it out eventually, so all's good that ends good. (Hehehe, love the grammar. ) Anyway, even though I'm pleased with how it turned out, I'm not sure its really something that I will wear, so I'm not sure how much play in the wardrobe it's going to get. That doesn't bother me though. I'm just happy it turned out well.

On another note, one of the recent Sunset magazines had a blurb about a peach orchard in the heart of San Jose.

Turns out its owned by the Cosentinos. My mom took me to that grocery store all through my childhood. One of the brothers has an orchard next to his home and they grow all kinds of fruit, but the peaches and the nectarines are my favorite. Plus, the don't use any toxic sprays. They run a little stand and there is a box where you can leave the money for the fruit if no one is there.

I've gone back a few times since, but the first time I went, I knew exactly what had to be done with the peaches....

...mmm, peach sundaes. Just like in Oregon. Yum!

The shrug looks so great. I am sure you will wear it more than you think. It is a perfect layering piece.

Those peaches look so divine.
