Pressing Issues (Pun Intended)

Well, I've finished the top of baby Evie's quilt. And I love it and all it's imperfections. But pressing this quilt top is labor intensive. (I crack myself up. While pressing the quilt top, I realized this would be a blog post on its own and the word play for the title magically occurred to me. And I felt SO clever. And then I called my dad over and verified my cleverness by making him chuckle as well. See, I had a totally partial judge confirm how clever it was.) Normally I don't mind the ironing/pressing that comes along with quilting. But in this situation, it really did become a task in and of itself.

I mean, look at all the seams in just one individual block.

And now, look at how those add up row by row.

Getting all those seams to behave the way I want them to is sort of a losing battle, although I did my best.

And now it is basted and waiting to be quilted.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do for the quilting yet. I've contemplated copying Red Pepper Quilts' quilting on her version. But I'm also playing around with the idea of doing small double frame lines inside all the green HSTs and diagonal lines across the giant elephant HSTs. I dunno. It remains to be seen. I'm definitely thinking a light pink though for the quilting thread. I can't wait to show you the print I chose for the back. So perfect.

The back looks as good as the front...you are meticulous. Love the colors and the light pink would really set it off. Can't wait to see the backing material. And you are clever as well. B.

B. Thanks so much! And thanks for always having something nice to say about my work. I appreciate every comment even if I can't easily reply since you are Ms. Anonymous. Just know I feel the love and appreciate it.
